He was introduced at the end of Chapter 3 as Aoki Kanata's rival. He holds the title of SPLEEN's leader, despite being the least popular member of the group.
Shizuru Ruchi is 18 years old, born July 7th (same as Kanata). He is 179cm tall, and his bloodtype is AB. His hair is medium length, red and spiky and his eyebrows are short and pointy. His eyes are sanpaku and have an unspecified color, but he's portrayed with dark blue-ish eyes in the Saiki anime. He wears heavy eyeliner and black nail polish on some of his fingers.
Shizuru grew up in the show business, being shown to be a model ever since he was a baby. He is arrogant and there's nothing he craves more than to be in the spotlight. His attempts at grabbing people's attention are always ignored, which often makes him the butt of the joke in the manga.
In Saiki, he plays in the same drama as Mugami Tooru (Teruhashi Makoto) as a background corpse and has proclaimed himself to be Mugami's rival as well. He is enraged when he realizes Mugami doesn't even remember him.
Ruchi also appears in the Saiki light novels as one of the protagonists of Asou's works during one of the final fights (even though Kanata is the titular character). However, before he even does anything, he's quickly thrown back to his universe.
Shizuru is my favourite character from all Asou Shuuichi works, right next to Teruhashi Makoto, his rival. Even though he's from a manga that's run was cut short, his personality deeply resonated with me.
I've always loved characters who are underappreciated by everyone around them, characters who are not perfect and are doing everything to prove their worth to others.
Just like Makoto, he's an idol with short temperament, and I adore that about them.
However, my attitude towards Shizuru is different than what I feel towards Makoto. Shizuru makes me want to care for and protect him. With Makoto, it's more like a "I can fix him/make him worse". I don't feel that towards Shizuru.
I often wonder if I yume him, but I don't really do that stuff anymore lol
Not to mention the fact that he comes from such a niche piece of media that has a VERY small fandom makes my love for Shizuru even deeper. It feels more personal when there's less people sharing your fav character.
He's my underrated baby who I will love to death, even if I don't mention him as often as my other favs.
Anyways here's the entirety of Shizuru's anime screentime (and one of two total Makoto/Ruchi interactions).
